Our story
How Did We Get Started
The founder of Shaka Skateboards grew up in Santa Barbara, an area where skateboarding was making rapid developments for the sport in the 1970’s by icons Sims, Powell, Peralta, having begun his skating adventure in 1969, then moving on to Hawaii in 1980. Jack decided to share his love of the skateboarding culture which originated from surfing, its origin being Hawaii and the late great Olympic standout and ambassador… Duke Kahanamoku.
